What's 200 metres?

….Yes, yes, 200 x 100cm (I wasn't being literal! ) πŸ˜‚

When I saw the invitation to nominate people as Commonwealth Games πŸ…baton bearers I quickly ⌚ nominated 3 - simply 100 words each about their contribution to their community.

.....Then it felt great - UNTIL my unhelpful internal voice piped up: β€˜What if they were uncomfortable being nominated or with 200mπŸƒ?!’

WHO DO YOU APPRECIATE?

Appreciating others is uplifting - quite the opposite of most daily news πŸ“–!

Do you ask yourself β€˜How do I show my team my appreciation?’

AND DO YOU FEEL APPRECIATED?

We don’t need a nomination, but recognition can have the most amazing impact. We can all give it ....AND often then receiving a reciprocated gesture πŸ†.

Gestures ....but what when giving them isn’t obvious, easy - or an unhelpful internal voice pipes up? πŸ™ˆ

Like habit-forming, it's little and often...

HERE ARE 5 SIMPLE WAYS:

πŸ‘‰ Pointing out their strengths and planting seeds 🌱 of how to harness them

πŸ‘‰ Broadcasting their success wider than the immediate team, specifying their role

πŸ‘‰ Offering a star⭐ performer external coaching/learning to overcome fears/hurdles

πŸ‘‰ Getting them to present πŸ’» a recent project, process or learning experience to the team

πŸ‘‰ Takeaway coffee with β€˜thank you for / well done on...’ written ✍ on the side

OR... even easier, get me to do it for you – just message πŸ“© me and I'll send something by post!

AND IT BOOMERANGS – giving can easily prompt getting some back!

It doesn’t take 200 metres to recognise going the extra mile – but it ALWAYS means far more than numbers! πŸ’₯

If you or your team want to learn how to use recognition and appreciation techniques, get in touch!
